American Shorthair Cats Physical Characteristics

The American Shorthair is an athletic cat, as it is long and very lean. Its build is also very powerful, compared to such cats as the British Shorthair. There is a very wide variety of American Shorthair Cats, with there being over 80 different colours and patterns of cats around. This can range from very dark brown cats, to very blue eyed white cats. Currently the most well known cat of this breed is the Sliver American Shorthair.

The breed is known for being very robust and therefore can lead a very long life. However, these cats have a very common problem, which is heart disease. This is inherited and unfortunately at the moment there is no cure for the problem. If you do find that your American Shorthair Cat has this problem, then please go to the vet and you will be able to get the correct medication to help prolong your cats life.
