American Shorthair

The American Shorthair Cat is one of the most popular breeds of cats within the United States. The breed comes from the British Shorthair, which was brought to American by British settlers to protect their cargo from rodents. They are very working cats, as they are stocky, muscular and their build can be very powerful.

The breed used to be known as just the Shorthair Cat, but later became the Domestic Shorthair and then finally it turned into the American Shorthair.
